Denis Lyonnais

Advisor in school-family-community partnerships

With a bachelor degree in industrial relations from Université Laval, Denis made his career in the field of education. He worked for over twenty years in staff management, particularly with training and continuing development, before he was made director of l’École des parents (Parent’s school) in the school board des Navigateurs.

During this time, he worked on several research projects together with the Ministry of Education and other partners in the field. He organized workshops for parents of preschool and primary level students about the reinforcement of their parenting role. These workshops were a great success and are now offered in many different regions. Building on this success, he took part in the publishing of books for parents.

In partnership with several organizations such as the CTREQ, the UQTR and the CISSS Chaudière-Appalaches, he conceived, participated and oversaw the implantation of school-family-community participation models in Québec. Throughout his career, Denis was involved in various Ministry of Education juries and committees of the Ministry of Education. He is a member of the evaluation of didactical ressources committee whose mandate is to advise the Minister on questions relating to textbooks.

Recognizing his involvement in the development and promotion of the school-family-community relation, the Fédération des comités de parents offered him the Engagement award on promoting of parent’s interest within the educational community.
